In 2007/08, SPARC implemented a new survey called the Active NZ Survey. This survey monitors physical activity, in particular sport and recreation participation among New Zealand adults (16 years and over).
The scope of the 2007/08 Active New Zealand Survey differs from the previous New Zealand Sport and Physical Activity surveys, in that it adopted a broader definition of physical activity and assessed the intensity with which people do activities.
Methodological differences between the 2007/08 Active NZ Survey and the 1997-2001 New Zealand Sport and Physical Activity Survey can be found in the frequently asked question section.
